The little Rawson<\/a> (Baby Rawson) returned to School yesterday after a fortnight’s sojourn on an \u2018astral plane<\/a>\u2019. He has been away for what Mrs Rawson writes \u2018may best be described as confirmation\u2019 but I do not gather that there is any ceremony, only meditation! I resisted the obvious question \u2018Are you better?\u2019<\/p>\n There was a masters’ rehearsal of the second half of the Play<\/a> last night, but I gather it was not very good, very rough, Barrington-Ward<\/a> tells me however that afterwards they took it in hand and rehearsed it again until midnight and got it much better. Ward is much annoyed with old Gow<\/a> \u2018whenever\u2019 as he says \u2018I make a dramatic pause, Old Gow says \u00d4\u00c7\u00a3get along ne quidem etc etc\u00d4\u00c7\u00d8\u2019!!!!<\/p>\n Talking of \u2018Gowisms\u2019 Low tells me that at Commem<\/a> Gow said to Nichols \u2018What are you doing now?\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018I-I-I am wr-wr-wr-iting p-p-p-oetry\u2019 says Nichols<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2018Oh! Are yer, what are yer doing for yer living?\u2019 Poor, poor Poet \u2014 what a shock!!…<\/p>\n At last I have got the Father<\/a> up to be photographed, we went to Jacolette’s <\/a>this afternoon. Father was \u2018took\u2019 first in various unnatural attitudes, at least they looked so, intense woe depicted on his face! I followed and my handsome physiognomy (why did I try such a word!) was portrayed to what the man considered the best advantages. the result I expect will be a supercilious and haughty, not to say sill and conceited look on my pale and haggard countenance. However \u2018time alone\u2019 will show the results. At any rate I can give them away to my unfortunate friends.
